SEO 101 – SEO is Simple but not Easy

A contradiction? Not at all. If you have been studying or even so much as reading up on SEO techniques and strategies for at least a few months you would know that SEO basically comprise of on-page factors as well as off-page factors. Simple enough, right?

The basic formula to get your site (or a page) ranked high is basically:

Total strength of all incoming links x Level of on-page optimization = Good Ranking in Search Engines

Here’s the thing to remember though. Once you have just some basic stuff on your page that makes it obvious what your page is about (pretty easily done with some on-page tweaking), the bulk of the weight of SEO lies in link building process. There is no if and or buts about it! This is the part that’s not so easy, since getting back links is not something you have direct control over. But don’t worry, read on, and we’ll show you how to do it!

On page factors – Basically have your page content be about the keyword you are targeting. Just make sure the KW is in the: title tag, Meta description tag,
tag, a couple of image ALT tags, and finally repeated just a few times on the content area of the page, making sure that the keyword appears once early in the page. That’s pretty much it! Sure you can go further with some other minor stuff, but they don’t matter much when it comes down to it. Let’s stick with the important stuff for now. Too many things at once will distract the most well-meaning person and will lead to inaction.

Off page factors – Basically here’s the crux of the whole thing. You need links coming into your site…lots of them. Incoming links are also called back links. While all back links are not created equal, together, all back links will count toward the total back link strength in the eye of most search engines. And furthermore, the back links should link to your site via “anchor texts” relevant to what you are trying to rank for. Basically all that means is when site B links to a page on your site, you want the text link from site B to contain the keyword you want to rank for on your page.

You also want to keep in mind that each page on your site should target a different keyword, with the home page containing all the related keywords your site is about, as the home page will most likely be the most powerful page in your site.

The bottom line is this – On-page factors are quite easy to achieve as far as time spent. And while on a low-competition, low traffic keyword you can rank well with just the on-page optimizations (low-hanging fruits), you really need to understand that for pretty much any worthwhile keywords with decent traffic, you simply have to get back links!

This leads us to the purpose of this entire site. To show you exactly how to build back links to your site, and to do it consistently and effortlessly! A lot of sites give you tips but what good is it if you can’t apply it consistently? If you really want to achieve top rankings for whatever keyword you want to go after.
